Beats for Boobs Poster - 2011

on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 17:54

This poster is a 3-color silkscreen limited edition print. Hand-pulled by Screen, Ink of Lincoln, NE. 19" x 25" paper. Available in white or goldenrod paper, each silk-screened print is unique. Some of these posters will have a small bead of ink along the edges and will sometimes register uniquely between colors (the charm of hand-pulled and 3-color). Trim the poster or mat to 18" x 24" standard frame size, or leave border and hang to frame later.

"Stand With Randy" Art Show at Meadowlark Coffee

on Fri, 07/29/2011 - 17:29

I donated an illustration in good old fashioned illustrative media today (Prismacolor pencil and pastel on black Canson paper), and the subject matter is pretty dear to my heart.

Not long ago, I sat next to Buffalo Bruce at Meadowlark Coffee, and in his cheerful, endearing manner, he struck up a conversation.

Buffalo Bruce is the activist moniker of Bruce McIntosh, Staff Ecologist of the Western Nebraska Resources Council.

Bruce has earned my respect in so many ways, but the best part about hearing from him is that he is as informed and scientific as he is passionate.

In that brief,

Gallery 9 Guest Exhibition

on Fri, 07/01/2011 - 21:16

I've been invited to the Gallery 9 July Invitational by artist Su Harvey of Prairie Mile Tile.

It's an honor to be able to show as Su's guest because I've been a fan of her work since the very first time I saw her custom ceramic tiles when I moved here to Lincoln.

This is also a great opportunity to taut the talents of the folks at Screen, Ink who hand-pulled my prints for "Galaxy Kachina," an 18" x 24" piece that I'm showing tonight. I also thought I'd choose the two accompanying posters to display this month, seeing as just a few friends here locally have seen the set in person.

I'm so

Figuring You Out - The Sketchbook Project 2011

on Fri, 10/29/2010 - 22:45

I sent in to receive a sketchbook the other day so that I can participate in "The Sketchbook Project: 2011" from the Art House Co-op.

I chose the theme of "Figuring You Out."

The cool thing is that not only will my completed sketchbook tour with an art project around the U.S. and then end up in a permanent collection at the Brooklyn Art Library, but they will also digitize it and put the sketchbook online like a digital book.

I may try to illustrate several aspects of my most intriguing friends. Maybe while having coffee.

Figuring people out is fun, and one of the best parts about getting to

A Few of My Favorite Things

on Wed, 10/13/2010 - 22:59

I read the introduction to a very important Illustration book not long ago that basically outlined the necessity for an illustrator to come up with an aesthetic.

The author of this book spent a lot more time writing and thinking this over than I could imagine. But really, all my mind would absorb from it was what my brain wanted to hear:

No one can come up with that aesthetic without the personal project.

I design websites by day, so when I get home, all that validating of code keeps me from making too much out of my artists' statement. I'm really "graphic novel/comic book" in style.
